If you're here, you might have fallen victim to the infamous killer dowel pin issue. What is Cummins Killer Dowel Pin? The KDP in Cummins 5.9L engines with P-Pump injection pumps. The because of the weight of this pump and engine vibration, the aligning dowel pin for this cover slowly works its way out of the cover and falls into the timing gears. This kills the engine by damaging the timing gears and timing cover. 
There have been a number up updates over the years to try and mitigate this issue. One aftermarket option was using a tabbed washer which would be included in a Killer Dowel Pin Kit to cover the dowel pin hole, thus preventing it from happening again. This cover does not require a KDP Kit (Killer Dowel Pin). Instead our timing cover has an internal step inside the dowel pin hole which eliminates the need for a Killer Dowel Pin Kit.
