Cummins Oil Pan Adapter Gasket, 2888747

Upgraded, edge-molded Oil Pan Adapter Gasket - This is a new style oil pan adapter gasket. The new edge molded rubber gasket has been released to address oil leaks at the oil pan adapter joint. This new oil pan adapter gasket utilizes a metal carrier and edge molded rubber to prevent capscrew preload loss at the oil pan adapter joint.
All QSK19 engines built in the Cummins Seymour Engine Plant as of 11/15/2012 build date will use oil pan adapter gasket, Part Number  2888747. ESN first for this change is 37256362. At this time, the K series engines will continue to be built using oil pan adapter gasket, Part Number 4000595.
Oil pan adapter gasket, Part Number 4000595, will no longer be used in service. All kits containing oil pan adapter gasket, Part Number 4000595, will now contain the new oil pan adapter gasket, Part Number  2888747 . The effective date for this change at the Part Distribution Centers is 12/15/2012. It is important to note that oil pan adapter gasket, Part Number  2888747, can be installed on K series engines also.
Installation of this new gasket is critical to the gasket's ability to seal properly. The proper installation procedure must be followed in order to maintain a leak free joint. The installation procedure can be found in the service manual for the engine being serviced, in Procedure 007-027 (Lubricating Oil Pan Adapter).
